The Basketball Queensland State Championships, held on the iconic Gold Coast, brought together some of the top basketball players, coaches and referees from across Queensland. Among them was Pioneer Basketball Club’s Officials Coordinator, Jayden Rosanowski, who had the opportunity to officiate at this prestigious event.
Spanning multiple divisions and age groups, the week-long tournament provided a platform for competitive basketball and professional development. For referees like Jayden, it was a chance to learn from some of the best in the game. Educators from FIBA, the NBL, NBL1, WNBL, and regional competitions led workshops and offered real-time feedback to help officials refine their skills.
“The State Championships were an incredible experience,” said Jayden. “It’s not often you get to work with such knowledgeable educators and officiate games at this level.”
One of the standout sessions of the week was led by Grit Mindset, which focused on coach communication and managing the mental challenges of officiating. “The GRIT Mindset session was a real game-changer,” Jayden said. “It taught me the importance of controlling what I can and maintaining a clear head under pressure.”
As the tournament reached its climax, Jayden was honoured with an appointment to referee a Boys Bronze Medal Match.
The Pioneer Basketball Club congratulates Jayden on this achievement and is excited to see how his experiences at the Basketball Queensland State Championships will benefit the club’s refereeing programme in the future.
