We’re reaching out to ask for your support. One of our own — Daniel Matthews — has been selected as the 2025 Banks Peninsula Youth MP for Dr Vanessa Weenink. In just two weeks, Daniel will head to Parliament as part of the Youth Council.

As part of his role, Daniel is exploring the question:
“How can organisations use sport and physical activity to improve the lives of young people?”

Daniel has been part of the Pioneer whānau for over 10 years — first as a player, and now also as a referee and coach of the U15 Boys team. To support his mahi, he’s running a simple, non-scientific survey and would love input from as many young people as possible.

🧒 Who can take part?
Tamariki and rangatahi from Years 1–13 and anyone under 23. Whānau — parents, caregivers — are more than welcome to help out too.

📍 How to participate:

  1. In person this week at Pioneer programs (mostly at Pioneer Stadium), or
  2. Online here:  Questions for Pioneer basketballers

Your input will support both Daniel’s project and the club — helping us create even better experiences for our young athletes.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch. Thank you for backing Daniel and supporting our wider Pioneer community.
