Each year, Pioneer Basketball Club selects teams to compete in the Canterbury Basketball Association (CBA) Winter Club Competition. These teams are open to both Tāne | Male and Wahine | Females aged 13U and above, providing an opportunity for players of various age groups to participate in a competitive basketball environment.

Each team is made up of up to 10 players, along with one to two volunteer coaches and a volunteer manager. The teams play on Rāhoroi | Saturdays and Rātapu | Sundays across different gyms in Christchurch, with the exception of Tāne and Wahine Midweek teams, who compete on Rāapa | Wednesday nights.

For any player in year 9 and older who doesn’t make a club team or looking for less time commitment, we will also be running an ‘intraclub’ competition during the Winter months. This involves scrimmage style sessions similar to our Summer Open court. Details on Intraclub will be released close to trial dates.
