New Program!

In collaboration with Mānawa Kāwhiu (Lyttelton Rec Centre) we are starting a new program for adult females keen to stay active over winter, have a whole heap of fun and maybe learn a few skills.

WHO? Any wāhine keen to play some basketball, look after their body, stay social and learn a little about playing basketball.

GAMES? On the first Tuesday of the month, there will be a game. This game will be refereed with minimal contact. Where contact is discouraged but all other basketball rules are enforced as usual. This helps people feel safe, limit injuries and ensure we have a great time on court!

So far, we have two teams, the Alley-Oopsies and the Parakeets. Every second game we’ll mix the teams up for a bit of variety instead of playing in your teams. As we get more teams interested in playing we will adjust the format!

No team to play in? no stress! We’ll put you in an existing team:)

SKILLS? Every third Tuesday of the month we will hold a skills session. It’ll be designed as a fun, relaxed way to learn more about basketball and some of the skills involved. Which you can then put into action during the games!

Also keen to learn how to coach? We’ll incorporate that into the skills sessions!

  • Costs: Games, $6pp. Skills, $8pp (Cash or BT available on the night)
  • Location: Mānawa Kāwhiu, Lyttelton Rec Centre. 25 Winchester St, Lyttelton
